  • April 18, 2025

Diablo Valley College (91ɫ) has received the Community Impact award at the 12th annual East Bay Innovation Awards, presented by the East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA).

The ceremony, held on March 27 at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center, recognized 15 unique innovators across Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

91ɫ was celebrated for its Industrial Automation and Robotics Program, which equips students with the hands-on skills needed for careers in advanced manufacturing, logistics, and medical researchsectors increasingly dependent on robotics.

Each year, about 100 students graduate from the program, which blends classroom instruction with practical experience in 91ɫs state-of-the-art robotics training facility, featuring 17 industrial robotic arms and 14 technical courses offered each semester.

We are so proud to offer a rigorous robotics program, said 91ɫ President Susan Lamb. The coursework and hands-on training that is aligned with industry partnerships allows our students to attain the skills and experience they need to secure high-skill, high-wage jobs in advanced manufacturing right here in the East Bay.

Students can earn a Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Automation and Robotics, which includes training in robotics operations, autonomous systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, and programmable logic controllers.
